This week has been pretty good! At the beginning of this week we got to go to new missionary training, and I feel like I learned a lot but at the same time I feel like I know nothing! It's so crazy! President Welch talked about how we have a conscious and subconscious mind, and what we feed our subconscious mind determines what kind of mood we're in and what we're motivated to do. This is because our subconscious mind doesn't differentiate between fact and fiction. (That's why we are able to enjoy, laugh, and cry when we watch movies, because our subconscious takes over and doesn't care if what we're viewing is real or not. President Welch told us that we should be feeding our subconscious with good "movie trailers" because what we think about is what we become. For instance, if you play basketball and picture yourself winning the playoffs and being able to hold a trophy, you're much more likely to make that dream a reality. So y'all better feed your subconscious with good movie trailers/thoughts, and you'll see big changes in your lives!
So cool story from exchanges the other day. Sister Prince, an STL from Cherry Grove, came to Wilmington with me. We were going to visit some older ladies from the ward, and while we were visiting one of them referred us to her friend across the hall, Janet. We went to talk to her and she invited us right in. She began telling us about her life and regrets because of mistakes she has made or things others have done to her that really hurt her. She cried a lot and we could really tell she needed some comfort. We talked about how Christ comforts us and lifts our burdens from us if we will just come unto Him and allow Him to heal us. She was so grateful for the message we shared with her and even invited us over for dinner next week! Later that night our district leader called to check in about how our week went, and it just to happened that the elders had run into Janet the exact same day we did, just hours later! If that's not a sign that she is prepared to hear our message about Christ, I don't know what is.
I wish I had more time to tell y'all more stories about this week, but I'd just invite you all to follow the promptings and feelings you get from the Spirit, because Heavenly Father knows where, when, and with who you need to be, and He tells you that through the Spirit. Don't worry about feeling silly, just DO IT! We can never know all the blessings Heavenly Father has in store for all of us and for others.
Love you all and I'll write more next week!
We both made our first ever snowman
It snowed a lot this week, and learning to drive in it has been sketchy.
These mounds are ancient ruins, and a lady in our ward
who's an archaeologist says there is reason to believe
that it could have been some of the fortifications Captain
Moroni ordered to be built to protect the
Nephites from the Lamanites. SO COOL!
