December 24, 2018

Hey, guys! This week has been so crazy! I'm emailing from my phone right now because the library is closed for Christmas Eve but I'll try and type as much as I can!

We left the MTC on Dec 17 at 3:45 am and traveled all day to get to the mission home in Cincinnati. I fell down the stairs of our residence hall in the MTC trying to help Sister McCullough get her luggage down. Hurt kinda bad but it's a pretty funny story. I'll send some pictures of my bruises they're pretty sick haha. Anyways, we spent that night in the mission home and the next morning we got up to go meet our companions! My companion is Sister Gatchalian. She's from the Philippines and is from the Salt Lake Temple Square mission, but each sister serving there goes to a different mission for a few months so she will only be here for this transfer. She's a really good teacher there's a lot to learn from her. Our area is the town of Wilmington. It's a small little town and everyone here is super down to earth. The ward members are very welcoming, but it has been hard trying to visit a lot of them because they live out in the country and we don't have that many miles every month for our car.

Not going to lie, these past few days have been exhausting. We are trying to do a bunch of tracting and asking for referrals from everyone because we don't have that many people to teach. We haven't even had a lesson with an investigator yet because we're having such a hard time finding people. It's pretty frustrating because all we want to do is share the gospel, but people won't listen. Most doors we knock on, people say they already go to a church and after that they don't listen to much of what we have to say, but they're pretty nice about it. There have only been a couple of people who have slammed the door in our faces. We've found a couple people that seem a little interested, so this next week we're going to go back and see if they'll let us in to teach them. A lot of people have asked us to go away because they're busy with family for Christmas. I thought it'd be easier for people to want to listen to us around this time of year, but the holidays are super busy. Tomorrow we're not supposed to proselyte so we're visiting a few members but staying home besides that.

We had a close call a few days ago that helped me to know Heavenly Father looks after all His missionaries. I'm the designated driver, and we were coming home at night from tracting, and a car swerved over into our lane and almost hit us, but somehow I was able to react fast enough to slam on the brakes and get out of the way. It was pretty scary and was almost really bad, but Heavenly Father is aware of us and protects us. I hope you all have a happy Christmas and while you're spending time with family and opening presents don't forget that Christ is the whole reason for Christmas and He loves you so much He sacrificed Himself for you, and just wants you to come unto Him. Don't forget to spread His light to others!
